Ellen Leonard is an artist living and working in Indianapolis, Indiana. By day she is a scientist, with a B.S. in biology from Brandeis University. Her true passion and escape from the world of science lies in her life as a jewelry artisan. Ellen began taking metalsmithing classes in 2002 at the Indianapolis Art Center, and has learned from local instructors, as well as being self-taught. She has worked extensively in metal clay and metalsmithing techniques. Ellen is a Certified Art Clay Instructor and taught metal clay classes for 3 years. Ellen’s work can be seen in Indianapolis stores and galleries, including Haus and Broad Ripple Art and Design. She has also exhibited her work regionally through art fairs and stores. Her interest in the local art community encouraged her to co-found Art Space 30, Inc. in 2006, a group which provided reasonably priced exhibition opportunities for artists. She has also worked to help coordinate events and fundraisers with Dan Shi Club, a non-profit Tae Kwon Do club, and the Indianapolis International Film Festival.
